Commitment to Excellence and Attention to Detail - "It's all about the People" Minimize

I am a family man with my wife Kerri of 22 Years and 2 teenagers Michael 18 and Nicole 13.

I am a working man that has held positions of manager, supervisor, and just your plain worker bee position.  I served in the United States Marine Corp “78-82”.  Currently, I represent the employees in my work place as a Union shop steward, and the residents and businesses of this city as a Councilmember, and Current Mayor Pro-Tem.

I am not a “Politician”. I do not and have not made decisions which go against the will of the people.  I am a hard working family man, and have personally experienced and felt the results of this economy, lived through the reductions of downsizing and layoffs, salary cuts, and loss of job. I know what is happening in family’s homes. I have not lost touch with the people or struggling businesses in this City. My voice is that for the people and businesses of Colton, and not City Politics.

My decisions the last 4 years, on record, have always been to improve the quality of life for our taxpaying residents, not increase the burdens they have to face.

Before I became a Council member, I worked as a resident to create the basketball courts, tennis courts, and tots play land at Elizabeth Davis Park, and recently worked to name this area “Connie Paddy Cisneros” Recreation Area, in Honor of the Late Councilmember.  Over my 4 years in office, I worked to place street humps in qualifying neighborhoods. I became a member of the Colton Citizens Police Volunteers to help patrol the neighborhoods and give that little bit of increase in Police presence. Worked to create the Safe Drop Off Zone at Paul J Rogers School.

When the decisions came to give up to 28% salary increases to Executive Management, I voted NO. When it came to taking what little left our families had by raising the Water rates
112%, and electric rates by 17.4%, I voted NO, but the majority Council as well as my opponent, Kathy Jaramillo, a utilities commissioner, voted YES. When it came time to Vote to extend the Utility Users tax for 15 more years, I voted NO, so our families will realize some much needed tax relief, the majority and my opponent supported it, but fortunately a Super Majority was needed to extend the tax and with my NO vote, it failed. The residents and businesses will now realize a 4% & 6% savings on ALL utilities starting next July 2011.

Our Current Majority Council and my opponent which they support is out of touch with the people and businesses, and have run the City as such, spending above it’s means despite what we can afford. Our City is crumbling and The Voters must respond.

Please help me to continue working and fighting for what is right for businesses, my family and yours. Help support me in this election by saying “I’m mad as hell and not taking it anymore”. Remember “Your Vote Counts”.

Your support and vote will help me to implement my Ideas and solutions to Increase Business’s that will generate revenues for the city, which will allow us to reduce electric rates that are already overinflated as proven in the Audits of Aug 2010, and bring back jobs to help maintain our streets and parks, and keep our Public safety whole.

I have proven to have Strong Leadership, Honesty, and Integrity and have earned Respect from many Colton Officials, residents, business owners, and community leaders.
